Some people might notice the gap between this post and the one before it. Yes, I confess I have been running more than I was blogging. Apparently, people actually read this blog because I did get some comments on not writing.
So I have returned to the Blog-front.
2011 has been a great ultrarunning year! In June I ran a good 100 km race in Amsterdam when temperatures were well above being pleasant (>28 Celcius) and in September my first 24h race in Scotland turned out to be a winning race (which is completely new to me).
Again, this year I could depend on my friends to support me before and during these races (let's call them 'team' from now on, that sounds professional). Without their butt-kicking, encouragement, feeding and manly-rubs, I would never have been able to run that well. So team, a BIG thanks again!
Apart from all these kick-ass-results, the past three months I have hardly done any training/running. This is a tradition I stick to every year. Mentally and physically I need some time off running and training when the year draws to an end.
So having gained about 2 kg and having spend a lot of quality time with my family and friends, it is now time to look ahead. The BIG race for 2012 will be the Spartathlon in Greece, September. At the moment I am really busy investigating all that is necessary to run a good race: i.e. travel, support team, training, hotels, preparation races, nutrition and so on. It already start to feel like I am planning a huge expedition to the moon / Everest / Jungle / holiday with your mother in law (please tick if applicable).
I'll keep you up to date on this, when the Master Plan is ready somewhere end of December, beginning of January.
Yours in running,
Jeroen
